The America’s Cup is the oldest international trophy in world sport,?pre-dating the modern Olympics, the World Cup and the Ryder Cup. This year, the sailing world has chosen to make Barcelona their home for what promises to be one of the most intense and exciting America’s Cups in the event’s 174-year history...
? WHAT IS THE AMERICA'S CUP?
The America’s Cup is the largest sailing competition in the world and takes place every four years. Also known as “the race with no second place”, the America’s Cup stands as one of the hardest sporting endeavours to date. The winning boat’s home country (actually, it's yacht club) gets to take the trophy home until another competitor challenges and wins it from them. This year, it will be held in Barcelona from 22nd August to 27th October.?
?? WHERE TO WATCH?
From 22nd August to 27th October, Port Vell & Port Olímpic are the places you want to be to catch all of the live action. The six America’s Cup teams’ bases are located in the Port Vell area and the UniCredit Youth & Puig Women’s teams are in Port Olímpic.
The main activities will take place in the Race Village along Moll de la Fusta. There are also two fan zones that are located in Pla?a del Mar and Bogatell.
Pla?a Rosa del Vents and the beaches of St Miguel, Barceloneta and Somorrostro are also good viewing options.
