Americans seek "Healthy" Candy Alternatives, according to our recent survey

In our recent in-app survey, over 7,000 candy-loving Americans spilled the beans on their candy-purchasing habits and preferences. Brace yourself for some fascinating insights into the world of candy connoisseurs!

Let's start with everyone's eternal love affair: chocolate. Unsurprisingly, chocolate remains the undisputed champion of the candy kingdom, capturing the hearts of 91% of consumers in 2023 (and 90% in 2022). But what's even more interesting is that we have a tie between The Hershey Company 's Reese's and 玛氏食品 ' M&M's for the title of consumers' favorite chocolate candy. It's a nail-biting competition, with a mere one percent difference between them. Snickers and Kit Kat also have their fair share of devoted fans, followed closely by the classic Hershey's bar.

Moving beyond chocolate, we venture into a world of flavors. Besides the ever-popular sweetness, consumers have developed a penchant for sour, minty, and even spicy candies. 玛氏食品 ' Starburst claims the throne as the beloved candy brand in the sweet category, while 亿滋食品 's Sour Patch Kids reign supreme in the sour realm. For minty delights, The Hershey Company 's York Peppermint Patties have secured a special place in candy lovers' hearts, while Just Born, Inc. 's Hot Tamales add a fiery kick to satisfy those craving something spicy.

But what about those health-conscious individuals among us? Well, it turns out that sugar has become a hot topic for candy buyers. A whopping 50% of non-regular candy purchasers cited reducing sugar consumption as the reason for steering clear of the sugary delights. On the other hand, almost half of regular candy buyers (47%, to be precise) are on the lookout for "healthy" candy alternatives. It seems that people are keen on treating themselves while keeping their sugar intake in check. Some popular choices for guilt-free indulgence include The Hershey Company 's BarkThins, SkinnyDipped Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, and SmartSweets Low-Sugar Gummies. Last but certainly not least, we have to give a shout-out to brand loyalty. Despite wavering loyalties in other areas of life, when it comes to candy, Americans are as loyal as ever. A staggering 91% of candy lovers have sworn allegiance to their favorite candy brands, standing firm in their devotion to the sugary sensations that bring them joy.
