American Software for a Hard World...and Fun

“Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.”- Jennifer Lee*

Even Vladimir Putin realizes that trade, global trade, is the answer to Russia’s economic growth needs. But he’s made the mistake of engaging in violence in order to perpetrate his regime. He has blockaded a food insecure world access to Ukraine, the breadbasket. He has throttled Europe’s access to fossil fuels and in the process, fueled political and climate instability (pardon the pun).?

The Refuge

America has provided my family and me with refuge and I repay the debt with my patriotism and my imagination. I have invented Correlation** to pay back forward to the land I love.?

Infor, when led by Carl Phillips, figured out how to apply the “full stack” of software to solve the global trade needs of the world’s nations. Infor’s software has greatly benefitted many American SMEs.

“During our brief stay on planet Earth, we owe ourselves and our descendants the opportunity to explore — in part because it's fun to do. But there's a far nobler reason. The day our knowledge of the cosmos ceases to expand, we risk regressing to the childish view that the universe figuratively and literally revolves around us” ~ Neil DeGrasse Tyson?

American Divide

Wikipedia: In 1826, faced with poor health, Emerson went to seek a warmer climate. He first went to?Charleston, South Carolina, but found the weather was still too cold.[30] He then went farther south, to?St. Augustine, Florida, where he took long walks on the beach and began writing poetry. While in St. Augustine he made the acquaintance of?Prince Achille Murat, the nephew of?Napoleon Bonaparte. Murat was two years his senior; they became good friends and enjoyed each other's company. The two engaged in enlightening discussions of religion, society, philosophy, and government. Emerson considered Murat an important figure in his intellectual education.[31]

While in St. Augustine, Emerson had his first encounter with?slavery. At one point, he attended a meeting of the Bible Society while a slave auction was taking place in the yard outside. He wrote, "One ear therefore heard the glad tidings of great joy, whilst the other was regaled with 'Going, gentlemen, going!'"[32]

My Comment: Like Emerson, my parents lived, thrived and were inspired in St. Augustine, after living in Pau, the city of Henry II.?They, in turn inspired me to read and to study history, whereby I discovered the link between Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Admiral DeGrasse whose strategic genius led to the campaign that won America:

Education?

"If you ask adults how many teachers — out of the scores in elementary, middle school, high school, college and graduate school — made a singular impression on who and what they are, it's never more than three or four teachers. Everybody else is a distant second to this set. When we finally create a cloning machine, we should clone those teachers." ~ Neil DeGrasse Tyson?

America: Go for Launch!

"We set sail on this new sea because there is new knowledge to be gained, and new rights to be won, and they must be won and used for the progress of all people. For space science, like nuclear science and technology, has no conscience of its own. Whether it will become a force for good or ill depends on man, and only if the United States occupies a position of preeminence can we help decide whether this new ocean will be a sea of peace or a new terrifying theater of war.” ~ JFK

“I don't want students who could make the next major breakthrough in renewable energy sources or space travel to have been taught that anything they don't understand, and that nobody yet understands, is divinely constructed and therefore beyond their intellectual capacity. The day that happens, Americans will just sit in awe of what we don't understand, while we watch the rest of the world boldly go where no mortal has gone before." ~ Neil DeGrasse Tyson?

“I am trying to convince people — not only the public, but lawmakers and people in power — that investing in the frontier of science, however remote it may seem in its relevance to what you're doing today, is a way of stockpiling the seed corns of future harvests of this nation." ~ Tyson?
