American Payroll Association - Congress 2017

May 16-20, 2017at the Orlando World Center Marriott payroll professionals from all over the world came together for education, networking and solutions for payroll and other related industries. Thanks to the APA and GPMI (Global Payroll Management Institute) for another great conference.

I had a chance to sit down with Doug Wolf who heads up Industry Relations for the APA & GPMI and discuss the future of work and payroll technology. I shared with Doug not only my vision and predications of where the industry is headed but also the modern payroll tools we are building at Visage Payroll to support upcoming advancements in payroll. For the past two years we've been designing data driven payroll and we are also exploring and building technology for the Gig Economy and Crypto Currency.

I also attended our annual meeting for the Board of Contributing Writers for PayTech Magazine. We had amazing discussions about trends, challenges and opportunities that the payroll industry should be informed about. We discussed broad and specific topics alike and the practical solutions that we will write about in 2018. Some of the things I brought up based on what we are seeing; the impact of millennials working in payroll, millennials in the workforce, the Gig Economy - on-demand work - independent contractors, artificial intelligence, diversity in payroll and remote workers.

So many awesome things coming down the pipeline for our industry at large and Visage is excited to be building modern payroll tools to meet these opportunities head on. More to come over the Summer on what we've been creating.
