The American Dream Is Real!

4th of July! I was thinking about the American Dream and came across this excellent quote "I believe in America because we have great dreams and because we have the opportunity to make those dreams come true."

How true! America has provided an abundance of opportunities for me - but to truly grasp how grateful I am, let's go back to the beginning: Je Me Souviens... I remember!

As most know, my story begins in Canada, where I came to the US as an exchange student ???? As a kid, golf was everything to me, and while I liked hockey, golf was my "one thing"! @GaryKeller I knew I could play golf in the NCAA but didn't speak English, and I couldn't get into college without it. Some dreams don't happen overnight but are built brick by brick. Over time and much practice, I was fortunate to be given a chance to golf in a tournament. There were dozens of other kids competing, and I was one of several selected as winners of the match, and was given a chance to play in America! But what most don't know is that even though I won the opportunity to play in America, I was actually picked last!

Watching everyone else get picked before me was a humbling experience but an outstanding life lesson to never give up on your dream! Stay humble... hustle hard!

I arrived in America in the year 1999! I graduated college, and then in 2005, golf led me to Myrtle Beach, SC. It was a long, extraordinary journey with many butterfly effects and a few incredible life changers. I worked at Pines Lakes washing carts and eventually moved on to becoming an Assistant Pro! However, I could not make ends meet, which meant I had to start valeting at night, which was difficult at the time, but every time I ever went through a difficulty or hardship in life, life taught me a skill or lesson, and for that, I'm forever grateful!

And that was my first big mind shift! I knew I was surrounded by opportunities for much more.

Slowly but surely, I left caddying and started Monarch Roofing - we didn't even have a truck back then; even company shirts were a big deal for us when we got them!! And I am sure all business owners can relate to how amazing those 1st shirts felt! A dream was coming true. I love this country and am forever indebted to give back, as nothing can come close to the opportunities that were given to me.

What an incredible journey! Monarch Roofing now has 3 locations and has made over 40m in sales based on the Roofing Machine concept. Still, none of this would have been possible without the foundation of the American dream, freedom, and opportunity! People move from around the world to have the chance to be part of the greatest country. Some are motivated, and some are looking to find their passion. I am obsessed and fueled by a promise that can never be completely fulfilled!
