America is an Ideal.

America was dreamed up by a large group of wealthy, educated, men. It was the Enlightenment "intellectual movement of the 17th and 18th centuries in which ideas concerning God, reason, nature, and humanity were synthesized into a worldview that gained wide assent in the West?". They gathered and argued; what would make for an ideal society, words like freedom. dignity, sovereignty, opportunity, responsibility and legacy among others were spoken with passion and eloquence. They were wealthy educated white men who understood the barbarity of the system which allowed their Class to exist.
That ideal place where Government holds as sacred it's Trust to insure that all have the Divine gifts of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" where all have Freedom from the absence of necessity. A place where resource allocation equality guarantees citizens food and shelter security and resources to help them in reaching their full potential so they can contribute back to the Nation. America holds out the promise of being that kind of Nation, but is still more notion than nation. Still my heart beats a little faster thinking "what if the United States of America finally delivered the Founding Fathers vision for a Nation of free People?".
Imagine if the FF's woke up today and were told that nearly every person in the country had a device which enabled them to voice their vote from anywhere. Would they approve of an electoral collage which allows one party to lose five consecutive elections by the popular and still retain equal power. Would they defend a Republic which requires Representative representation when technology allows for a direct participation in Democracy. I challenge you to close your eyes, take a couple of deep breaths and imagine living in "America!".
