Amend or repeal the second amendment
Mass Shootings
America has a lot of good things going for it, but the senseless mass shootings beggars belief. The second amendment only mentions a well regulated militia, for the security of a free state. Remember an amendment, is just that, it can be repealed. Well - if the author of this article is correct and a mass shooting occurs every 200 days, then guess what's coming for Christmas!

Here is the amendment as ratified by the States and authenticated by Thomas Jefferson, then-Secretary of State:
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

6 年Geoffrey, you are right on to it.? This detail should be promoted (sent viral) so that the truth about the second amendment can't be distorted as has been the obvious case. If anyone should be "shot"? it is the gun lobby for distorting the truth.? Good on you for raising this issue.

6 年This debate is so old and pointless. The original intent is easily fished out when studying the words of the Founding Fathers. Every citizen has a right to be armed and it’s not for sport hunting. An armed citizenry is a last defense against an abusive, tyrannical government. A well-regulated militia means that it is the public’s obligation to be well prepared to defend their liberty against an oppressive government. Hilarious how today’s bias views this “well-regulated” term as a justification to limit access to arms as well as further control how those arms are defined and used. Btw...in the late 1700s, the term “militia” was widely known to mean a group of ordinary citizens assembling to defend their freedoms.

7 年Distortion - just as IT may have happened during the election. No, I did NOT liked Andy Cain's comment , I liked the opposite Geoffrey Baldwin's comment.

7 年IT is all there at the start " well regulated" - That's what IT should be.
I have never understood how "well regulated militia" becomes a free for all when it comes to firearms. Switzerland is a well regulated militia. Joe Citizen buying assault rifles and sidearms by the dozen is not (I was going to use stronger language, but this isn't FB :-)).
