AMD Unveils Powerhouse AI Chips to Compete with NVIDIA and Intel

AMD is pushing the boundaries of AI computing with the release of its most advanced chips to date, designed to compete with industry giants NVIDIA and Intel. Unveiled at the Advancing AI 2024 event, the new chips promise to accelerate AI workloads, both in data centers and commercial devices. CEO Lisa Su highlighted AMD's mission to create an open AI ecosystem where innovation thrives.

  • AMD Instinct MI325X Accelerators: These chips, featuring 256GB of HBM3E, deliver superior performance in generative AI tasks, outperforming NVIDIA’s H200 in model training and inference by up to 1.4x.
  • 5th Gen AMD Epyc Processor: The newly launched Epyc server CPUs offer up to 192 cores, reducing power consumption by up to 71% and significantly cutting down on the number of servers required in AI-heavy data centers.
  • Pensando AI Networking Solutions: The Pensando Salina DPU and Pollara 400 NIC support secure, high-speed data transfers, enhancing AI capabilities in hyperscale environments with 400G throughput.
  • Ryzen Pro 300 Series Laptops: Set for commercial release later this year, these laptops power AI-driven features like Microsoft's Copilot+, with Lenovo’s ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 leading the charge.

With the introduction of cutting-edge AI accelerators, server processors, and networking solutions, AMD continues its quest to disrupt the market and challenge its rivals. As these products roll out, AMD is positioning itself as a key player in shaping the future of AI infrastructure across industries.

nChain Announces First Implementation of Verifiable AI on Bitcoin

Leading experts at nChain?have identified and successfully tested ways in which the output of an AI system can be verified using?cryptography and?blockchain technology. This?helps to?ensure that AI models adhere to ethical standards such as fairness, transparency, and safety—without revealing proprietary information of the?models.

Verifiable AI Inference on Bitcoin:?nChain successfully demonstrated verifiable AI inference on Bitcoin, with relevant transactions available on the original protocol Bitcoin, Satoshi Vision Blockchain (BSV Blockchain). The transactions?can be found on the mainnet, with the corresponding generation code on GitHub.

  • Innovative Machine Learning Applications:?Building on their success with verifiable computation on Bitcoin, nChain has explored its application in machine learning. “Training is computation. Inference is computation. If you can do verifiable computation, then you can do verifiable training or verifiable inference,” says Dr. Hamid Attar, Lead AI Researcher at nChain.
  • MNIST Dataset Example:?The team trained a simple neural network on the MNIST dataset of handwritten digits. A cryptographic proof verified the model's output without disclosing the model’s information, enabling users to claim a small amount of Bitcoin from the blockchain.
  • Proof of AI Model Integrity:?nChain is exploring the possibility to cryptographically prove that an AI model is trained on a specific dataset. This approach allows AI developers to prove that they did not tamper with the training dataset to train an AI model for malicious intentions. A piece of artwork can have a proof showing that it is generated by an AI model on a given prompt,?or as a paid user you can be sure that you are getting answers from?a paid version?not the free versions.?

KEEP YOUR EYE ON IT

Optimus Steals the Spotlight at Tesla’s Robotaxi Unveiling Event

Tesla's highly anticipated Robotaxi made its debut in a star-studded Hollywood event, but it was Optimus—the humanoid robot bartending in a quirky cowboy hat—that stole the show. While the futuristic autonomous vehicle impressed, it was the robot’s entertaining antics behind the bar that had attendees talking.

  • Optimus, a six-foot humanoid robot, greeted guests in style, pouring drinks and charming the crowd while sporting a cowboy hat, bowtie, and suspenders. Despite needing assistance from............
