Amcor's AmSky Blister System got rewarded with the Recyclable Packaging award
Amcor, a renowned company, known for its innovative packaging solutions, won the ‘Recyclable Packaging’ award at Sustainability Awards 2022 conducted by Packaging Europe. The business has received recognition for its ground-breaking vinyl- and aluminum-free thermoformed blister system, Amcor HealthCareTM AmSkyTM. This recyclable solution offers a more environmentally friendly and low-carbon footprint substitute for the most popular kind of healthcare packaging.
The AmSkyTM Blister System from Amcor is intended to recycle PE rigid and PE flexible streams. The technology uses Polyethylene (PE) thermoformed blister and lidding film instead of the conventional PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) and foil. As a result, it allows pharmaceutical businesses to improve the recyclability of their packaging.
Moreover, the fact that lidding film is child-resistant and senior-friendly (CRSF) makes it more beneficial. The integrated design of the system ensures safer and more practical packing. Additionally, the AmSkyTM Blister System benefits from a reduction in the carbon footprint of up to 70%.
Dr. John Forsyth, Global Product Manager Blister Systems & Sachets at Amcor, said, “AmSky’s breakthrough recycle-ready blister system showcases how material science and design play a vital role in the future of healthcare packaging, and we are delighted to see it recognized for the Recyclable Packaging award. It demonstrates our heritage in healthcare, strong R&D expertise, and commitment to ongoing innovation and sustainability.”
