Emergency Services Times
For the latest news and information on all emergency services.
Hi Reader,
Part of my job is to report on local democracy in action and that generally involves wading through vast amounts of papers and watching poor quality video of authority meetings.
On Tuesday, it was the turn of Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Panel. I confess it's not my first time watching this panel although the camera angle was marginally better and the debate was fractious as ever. I remain unconvinced that the powers of these panels are quite right. See what you think by reading my two reports about the new chief fire officer.
This week’s digest is in partnership with Crown Commercial Service and I have learnt a lot about social value and procurement after hosting a webinar on that topic. Do have a read of my write up and watch it on catch up - it’s clear that if services get social value right in contracts, it’s going to be something to shout from the rooftops.
