The Ambience in Interior Design
Another instance on the ambience in Interior Design; I would love to share with you all.
I was recently talking to a client of mine about different styles of Interior design and how each style is a reflection of the personality of the individuals living in the house and how the colours and ambience of the house can influence the mood of a person when he or she enters a home.
Based on the conversation I had with them in the past hour I went on to describe the couple, my clients, their house interior created as per my interpretation of the style that would complement their personalities and give them comfort and pride they were dreaming about. This was just a visual I created in their minds while I was talking to them, no 3D views or plans.
So, imagine that your partner is home in the living room and you just reached home, at the entrance you have a decorative character lamp similar to the Moroccan lamps dangling from the ceiling and a patterned screen enclosing one side of the entrance portico. You just entered the space and see a message board your wife had fixed last Sunday, it says’ leave your footwear outside.
As you enter your home, a bright multi-coloured mural framed within; an antique gold coloured frame and hung on a beige backdrop welcomes you.
As you walk past towards your living room, you come across a cluster of plant pots with motifs and floor lanterns reflecting their intricate pattern on to the walls and adding that calmness and beauty to space. You feel like the entire mental luggage you carried from work has diffused and your mood is transitioning into a serene calmness.
Your gaze goes to that intricately framed wall clock you had shopped to suit that narrow wall visible from the entrance hallway. You quickly glanced into the rose gold hexagonal mirrors composed below the clock and remembered that you need to freshen up. You handed over the savouries and sweets you had gotten along to your partner, requesting her to serve them to the family while you freshen up.
Rushing back, you all settled into your opulent living room pampering your senses to the bounty and luxury of the space with velvet sofas & intricate embellishments. You thanked God for the bliss and continued to savour the delicacies with your family while your feet were being treated to the silky softness of the exquisite Turkish carpet your best friend had gifted you with..
Your senses slowly drifted towards the fragrance of jasmine flowing in from the backyard and you walked out to settle into you cosy patio with warm lamps and couch and end the rest of the day in gratitude and contemplation.
I paused for a while after this, to let it all sink in. My client was still in his Patio in his mind. I then asked them, is this how you want your dream home to be like and I could read it in their eyes and smile.
That was the start of the journey towards their dream home.
BLISS, TRANQUILITY, OPULENCE.
How did you like the journey into the home of a couple with a taste for intricate and opulent interiors? How did the mood and ambience feel like?
This is exactly what different styles of spaces do to your senses and it is not a trend or a historic, classic or modern style that defines your home interiors.
Rather, it is a blend of a style that appeals to you and an amalgamation of your personality and tastes within that style that leads to a dream space and an ambience that appeals to your senses and is unique to you.
And, that’s the relation between Ambience & Interiors.
