Amber Precast delivers challenging nuclear project for Magnox on time.

Today marks the final striking of a Shielded Overpack destined for @Magnox Trawsfynydd Power Station in North Wales.

Amber Precast Ltd (APL) were contracted to manufacture 127 units over a 2.5 year period and today it comes to an end. The box is large, weighing in at 30 Te with its lid and needs special attention manipulating so as not to cause damage. The APL team have worked closely with the Magnox team at Trawsfynydd and with the wider 6m3 RCB Team, a product which APL are also producing. “It’s a great achievement and testament to the entire team that we have conquered this challenge” says Managing Director Richard Rhodes “ The nuclear sector is a highly regulated industry and critical components such as the Shielded Overpacks are not easy to manufacture, requiring extreme diligence and strict quality procedures, not everyone’s cup of tea”.
