AMBASSADORS FROM ASEAN COUNTRIES VISIT NELNA MANGO FARM

Nelna Mango Farm in Thanamalwila - Wandama received a visit from His Excellency Dato’ Tan Yang Thai, High Commissioner of Malaysia, Her Excellency Ho Thi Thanh Thruc, Ambassador of Vietnam, His Excellency Poj Harnpol, Ambassador of Thailand and Her Excellency Dewi Gustina Tobing, Ambassador of Indonesia on Sunday, 25th September 2022.

This Global G.A.P Certified farm was established by Nelna Agri Development (Pvt) Ltd. surrounding an extensive area of 650 acres located in the Intermediary and Dry Zone districts of Sri Lanka. Since its inception in 2005, Nelna has been immensely contributing to the agricultural sector of the country by working with the local community. Despite being located in an underprivileged area in the district of? Monaragala, we were successfully able to work on projects aimed at converting abandoned land into farms while also creating employment opportunities in order to revitalize the local economy through mango exports.?In addition to this, 60% of our workforce consists of women, as we are heavily focused on women empowerment.?

As of 2022, Nelna Mango Farm has concluded a comprehensive export partnership with 12 markets covering Europe, the Middle East and South-East Asia, and is standing alongside the nation to bring the much-needed forex at a time when adversity looms over the country.?

Speaking about the visit, Mr. E.G. Nanayakkara, founder of Nelna highlighted that it was a privilege to have met the team of VIPs as it provided an opportunity to showcase to the world how Nelna is leading with innovation and ethical farming to harness the potential of a natural resource. Adding to this, he further stated that their visit would support the company’s future export strategy of exploring new international markets, which will be beneficial to the country as well as to all other local exporters.
