Ambassadors in Chains – How do we represent the Kingdom of Heaven?
The other day I was talking with my mom as we were driving around in the car.
And we talked about how men are more inclined to be visual and acknowledge or notice attributes of women that a woman wouldn’t notice. Don’t worry, men. Men?are?visual. Women are visual too, but yet we are still built QUITE differently.
Mom and I then started talking about how all of us can choose how we live and operate in our world. Each of us has the power to be taken into sin or repel from it.
It’s our choice.
Do we choose the light? Or do we choose the darkness?
We can choose to view that man or woman as a Son or Daughter of God.
Or we can choose to view them as a piece of meat sent here for our benefit.
We choose. It’s that simple.
And as a Son or Daughter of God, I urge you to walk in the path that God has for you. It’s not a path of destruction. It’s a path of hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 says,
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV)
And Romans 12:1–2 (NIV) says,
“Therefore, I urge you brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God — this is your true and proper worship.?Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.?Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
We are transformed. We are renewed. We are RECREATED! “The old is gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV)
We then began talking about how Paul declared himself an “Ambassador in Chains” and what it means to be an “ambassador.” Good old Merrian-Webster says this:

an official envoy
especially?:?a diplomatic agent of the highest rank accredited to a foreign government or sovereign as the resident representative of his or her own government or sovereign or appointed for a special and often temporary diplomatic assignment
We are representatives of our eternal kingdom in heaven. How does that make you feel?
It makes me take my time here on earth way more seriously.
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
Ephesians 5:1
I love that last part of the definition the most: “appointed for a special and?often temporary diplomatic assignment.”
This is my assignment. To show God’s love on this earth to people who know him but especially to people who don’t. This is the assignment given to each of us. I know I’m not always the greatest ambassador. I show my flesh like a beacon instead of being a light to the lost. But after I read Ephesians 6: 18–20, I pledge to do better. And I pray you and all my friends will hold me accountable.?How do I want the Kingdom of Heaven to be represented??Let me know below!
I pray I can be God’s chief ambassador!
Ephesians 6 18–20 says,
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which?I am an ambassador in chains.?Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.” (emphasis added)
