At the Advantage Assam Summit 2025, Ambani called Assam a ‘technological paradise’ and even gave AI a whole new expansion—‘Assam Intelligence’. The event, inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi, highlighted the northeast’s booming economy, which has doubled to ?6 lakh crore in six years.

What’s Reliance Building in Assam?

  • AI-Ready Data Centre – delivering AI-powered services to students, farmers, and patients.
  • Two Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) Hubs – producing 8 lakh tonnes of clean biogas annually.
  • Mega Food Park – boosting Assam’s agricultural exports.
  • 800 Reliance Retail Stores – doubling from the current 400.
  • 7-Star Oberoi Hotel – adding luxury to Assam’s skyline.

These initiatives will generate tens of thousands of jobs, positioning Assam as a key AI and energy hub. “At the 2018 Summit, we committed ?5,000 crore. We’ve already invested ?12,000 crore. Now, we’re scaling up to ?50,000 crore,” Ambani announced.

This investment follows Reliance’s recent move to build the world’s largest data centre in Jamnagar. The company is also acquiring NVIDIA AI semiconductors and aims to power its AI infrastructure with renewable energy.

Madhya Pradesh Also Makes Huge Strides

The state at the heart of the country is also making bold moves in the tech world, securing a massive ?25,640 crore investment at the Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2025. The investments are expected to create 1,83,400 jobs, transforming MP into one of India’s fastest-growing tech destinations.

Big tech is taking notice, too!?

IBM, Barclays, Microsoft, VLSI, and L&T EduTech have signed memorandums of understanding to enhance investment, foster innovation, and promote skill development in the state. Additionally, Madhya Pradesh is supporting its startup ecosystem through the Innovest Startup Pitching Contest, which aids budding startups in obtaining funding and building partnerships.

With these big-ticket investments, new jobs, and tech collaborations, Madhya Pradesh is officially now on the map as India’s next major tech hub.

What do you think—can MP outpace Bengaluru or Hyderabad in the tech race?
