Some of the world’s largest tech firms pledge to fight cyberattacks. The Cybersecurity Tech Accord, led by Microsoft (LinkedIn’s parent) and Facebook, was signed by 34 companies on Tuesday. They’ve agreed to improve the “security, stability and resilience of cyberspace,” as well as aid any country that falls victim to cyberattacks. Several companies haven’t signed, including Google, Apple and Amazon. The agreement comes as the U.S. and U.K. issued a joint warning about Russian cyberattacks on internet infrastructure. ? Netflix rocketed past growth targets and hit 125 million global subscribers. The streaming service gained nearly 7.5 million subscribers in the first quarter, up 50% from a year ago. Netflix’s heavy investment in original programming — the service has launched 18 shows already this year — has boosted growth. Yet Netflix still faces competition from the likes of Apple TV and Amazon Prime, and its programming comes at a cost: Netflix will spend up to $8 billion on its shows this year, eclipsing Apple’s reported $1 billion. Netflix has also increased its subscriber costs to $10.99 per month. ? Share your thoughts: #NetflixSubscribers

Amazon has shelved plans to start selling prescription drugs in bulk to hospitals, reports CNBC; the e-commerce giant has struggled to secure deals with institutions and lacks the “sophisticated logistics network” needed for drug transport. Amazon may yet launch a direct-to-consumer drug business, however, and its Amazon Business unit still sells medical equipment such as stethoscopes and gloves. Reports of the retailer’s health plans have already had an impact — the “threat alone has helped speed consolidation” in the industry, notes Bloomberg. ? Share your thoughts: #AmazonDrugs

The White House reneged on plans for new sanctions against Russia in response to an alleged chemical attack by its ally, Syria, on its citizens. An announcement by U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley on Sunday calling for additional levies against Russian companies connected to equipment used in the attack was characterized Monday as “a misstatement” by administration officials. The U.S. Treasury recently imposed sanctions against top Russian officials and “plutocrats” for malfeasance around the globe. ? Share your thoughts: #SyriaStrikes

Reporting from The New York Times and the New Yorker that kicked off the #MeToo movement won a joint Pulitzer Prize for public service. The Washington Post also took home an award for its investigative reporting on sexual misconduct by Senate candidate Roy Moore. Rapper Kendrick Lamar made history as the first non-classical or jazz artist to win a Pulitzer, for album “DAMN” — he’s also the first Pulitzer-winning musician to go platinum. ? The international prescription market is already taking off. Amazon will try to position itself to establish a more authorized level of purchasing for buyers who are already purchasing prescriptions abroad. Overall, I think this will make pharmaceutical companies in the US reconsider their price points. #AmazonDrugs
