Amazon and Podcast advertising
Podcasts have been around for around two decades, and ad reads have been there right from the start. Targeting those ads has always been a challenge. Who is out there listening to the podcast? We only know if the show has collected data via surveys or benefits from listeners signing up for a platform or app that provides more personal information. In their most basic form, most podcasts are just an RSS feed that downloads an audio file. That gives us zero information on how we should target those listeners. For those about specific niche topics, it's a bit easier. People listening to a podcast about Settlers of Catan probably want to hear about other board games. But what if you're a Joe Rogan and have millions of listeners?
What if there was a way to segment and target different listeners such that they heard different ads more suited for their profile??
Last year, Amazon UK announced that with their Owned and Operated podcasts on Amazon Music and Wondery we can do doing exactly that. The major avenues for targeting via ADSP self-serve are Demographics, Geography and Genre. Historically, you'd have to work with Amazon Production Services to help you create an audio ad spot but with self-serve that is no longer the case. It seems the same feature might be coming to the US?so we'll be on the lookout for that feature in ADSP!

Remove meltable FBA inventory by April 15
From April 15, onwards, Amazon's fulfillment centers will not accept meltable inventory, including items like chocolates, gummies, and certain jelly- and wax-based products, until October 15, 2024. Any heat-sensitive products stored or arriving post-April 14 will be subject to disposal at a fee. This is standard practice every year and is done during warmer months. We've had several clients over the years faced with this key consideration.
Sellers will now have to manage their meltable inventory promptly by submitting removal orders or accelerating sales before the cutoff date to avoid additional charges. For detailed information on how to submit a removal order or request an exemption, and to learn more about FBA removal order fees, please visit the Meltable FBA inventory section on Amazon's Seller Central.
