Amazon Trust Services

Amazon Trust Services (ATS) is a certificate authority (CA) operated by Amazon Web Services (AWS). As a certificate authority, ATS provides digital certificates that are used to establish secure connections over the internet, typically through the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol. These certificates are commonly used to encrypt data transmitted between a web server and a user's web browser, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of the data.

Amazon Trust Services offers several types of certificates, including:

  1. SSL/TLS Certificates: These certificates are used to secure websites, APIs, and other internet-facing services, ensuring that data transmitted between clients and servers is encrypted and secure.
  2. Code Signing Certificates: Code signing certificates are used by software developers to digitally sign their code, verifying its authenticity and integrity. This helps users trust that the software they are downloading has not been tampered with or altered by malicious actors.
  3. Client Authentication Certificates: These certificates are used to authenticate clients connecting to servers, providing an additional layer of security beyond traditional username and password authentication methods.

By using certificates issued by Amazon Trust Services, AWS customers can establish trust in their online services and applications, enhancing security and privacy for both themselves and their users. Additionally, AWS services often integrate seamlessly with Amazon Trust Services, simplifying the process of obtaining and managing certificates for AWS customers.
