??AMAZON INSPIRE: THE NEW SOCIAL SHOPPING EXPERIENCE
亚马逊 has been testing Inspire, a short video and photo feature combining TikTok and Pinterest elements with a focus on commerce. Available to all US customers, Amazon pays influencers to create content and offers incentives like $250 for every vertical video under 30 seconds (up to 10 videos) and affiliate commissions on tagged products. Creators must join the Amazon Influencer Program to participate. Accessing the Inspire feed is easy through the Amazon mobile app.
My initial experience was underwhelming, finding photos of food tagged with products, such as a cinnamon bun photo tagged with a $400 KitchenAid mixer. A demonstration video would have been more effective. Nevertheless, it did inspire me to buy ready-made buns at the grocery store. Despite the mixed experiences, Amazon's efforts to support creators and experiment with shoppable content show potential for future growth and improvement.

?? IS BLUESKY HERE TO STAY?
Bluesky has been stirring up some buzz lately! It’s a new social platform that's been touted as a Twitter alternative, created by none other than Jack Dorsey himself. Bluesky is a decentralized social media platform that is built to give users more control over their experience. There's a lot of excitement around it, but exclusivity is part of the appeal. We are still waiting for our invites ??Time will tell if the platform will be able to continue to gain traction or if it will fade when the exclusivity wears off. Clubhouse had a similar story of skyrocketing to fame only to see its popularity take a nosedive. It's hard to say what the future holds for these platforms, as it really depends on whether they can keep innovating and keeping users engaged. It's fascinating to think about the life cycle of social networks – some manage to stick around for the long haul, while others just fade into the background.?

? SNAPCHAT'S NEW SNAP STAR COLLAB STUDIO
Snap Inc. recently launched Snap Star Collab Studio. This new feature is designed to be an end-to-end service for brands to partner with top Snapchat creators, known as Snap Stars. The Collab Studio will help accelerate these partnerships through managed service production, initially working with four partners: Studio71, Beeline by Brat TV, Influential, and Whalar. Although it's not quite like the brand marketplaces on TikTok or Instagram, it's a similar concept, aiming to connect influencers with brands for sponsored content. The initiative is just in the beginning stages, but we would like to see the program open up to mid-tier creators, democratizing the process and giving more opportunities to a broader range of Snapchat creators.

?? THE AD REVENUE ROLLERCOASTER: YOUTUBE DIPS AND META CLIMBS
YouTube's ad revenue has declined by 2.6% from the same quarter last year. In contrast, Meta's ad revenue is up 3% year over year, with a 24% increase in Reels views. The decline in YouTube's revenue could be attributed to both cyclical and structural factors, such as advertisers pulling back and shifting from longer-form content to Shorts. Monetizing Shorts at the same level as longer-form videos will be crucial for YouTube moving forward. Meanwhile, Meta is focusing more on AI and efficiency. However, employee morale at the company is reportedly low. Both platforms may need to diversify their revenue streams and ensure there are adequate monetization opportunities to keep creators.?

?? YOUTUBE ‘SORT BY OLDEST’ IS BACK!
YouTube is bringing back the option to sort videos by the oldest publishing date, allowing viewers to easily access early works from creators. They removed the option because it was only supported in a mixed mode when videos, live streams, and shorts appeared in the same feed. Now, the sort by oldest option will be available within each content type. In addition to this change, YouTube is also working on enhancing the homepage experience for users with more personalized content and plans to hide content tabs if a creator doesn't have that specific content type.

?? DEEP FLOYD BRINGS TEXT TO AI ART
I've been using Photoshop to add text to generative AI images, but now there's an easier way! The open-source Stable Diffusion has released a beta version called Deep Floyd, which allows users to input text that integrates seamlessly into their AI-generated images. Although it's still in the early stages and not perfect, including text in generative art is a significant step forward. As more platforms begin to offer this feature, creators will have an array of options to choose from, leading to even more impressive and customized content. For example, check out the artwork for this edition of the newsletter.
