An Amazon Takeover!

With Amazon's current waves in the healthcare arena and closure of Amazon Care, we have to ask... Is this all part of a larger, long-term deliberate strategy?

From the company's track record, it's pretty easy educated guess. Jeff Bezos, himself, has been reported saying, "your margin is my opportunity," and why wouldn't that include healthcare??

Amazon's History in Healthcare

Amazon has been rapidly expanding into the healthcare space. Recently, the company took major steps after acquiring One Medical and bidding on Signify Health, a home health technology and service provider.

Even its cloud business, Amazon Web Services, started a healthcare startup accelerator!

Amazon is closing up shop on Amazon Care at the end of 2022. Industry experts have noticed that this closure seems less like another failed venture and more like an intentionally lost pawn in a greater game plan.?

Forrester VP, Research Director Natalie Schibell wrote in a blog post "this is unequivocally not the end of the retail titan’s healthcare ventures. Instead, the shutdown of Amazon Care is a strategic plan to move the focus of their healthcare offerings from the employee to the consumer."?

So Here's the Sitch

• Why is this particular deal (One Medical) hitting such a nerve in the healthcare community?
• Will Amazon monopolize the US healthcare industry, with its usual practice of undercutting competitors and hard selling to customers?
• Is this part of a more deliberate, long-term strategy??
