Amazon invests an additional $4B in Anthropic

Amazon just announced that it will invest another $4 billion in Anthropic after forming an initial strategic partnership last September.?

The details:

• Under the new agreement, Anthropic names Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its primary training partner and will use AWS Trainium to train and deploy future foundation models.?
• Amazon previously invested $4 billion in Anthropic in exchange for the company making AWS its primary cloud provider.?
• This move brings Amazon’s total investment in Anthropic up to $8 billion. Both companies say that their collaboration has been key to delivering the capabilities of Anthropic’s Claude chatbot to AWS clients.?
• Amazon says the next phase of the collaboration will enhance the performance, security and privacy that Amazon Bedrock provides for customers running Claude models.?
