It varies. In our sensory experience, objects appear larger as they get closer to us. But does this NEARBY = BIG relationship apply to time as well? In other words, do we visualize future events as larger when they are closer?

Why It Works
Humans understand abstract concepts like time by relating them to tangible sensory experiences, such as spatial distance. We often describe future events as “far” or “distant” because our brains are using physical distance to help us conceptualize time.
As a result, time adopts the characteristics of spatial distance: just as objects appear larger as they approach, future events are perceived as “larger” as they get closer.
Customers gravitate toward images that align with these subconscious interpretations because they intuitively feel more appropriate, even attributing their comfort to the content in the images themselves.
