Amazon gaining search share from Google | Traditional brands moving to Amazon? | Amazon Marketing Course | Reclaim Lost Funds from Amazon Fees
Amazon steadily gaining search share from Google
Last year we produced a detailed analysis of the battle for retails search in the UK, comparing the search volume for over 11M search terms over core retail categories across both Amazon & Google. ?It showed that for retail search, Amazon was only marginally behind Google, holding 47% across these categories (Brand, Brand Product, Generic & Product Specific). ?Of course, for product search specifically, Amazon was the clear winner with over 55% search share but clearly shoppers are increasingly coming to Amazon earlier in their search journey. This chart from the US highlights a similar trend. Google's search dominance is slowly being diluted by predominantly Amazon, but also Apple. ?Are you currently allocating your search budgets in the right areas or like me when I first saw the UK data, does this surprise you? If you would like to understand search share between Amazon & Google for your specific category, we can do that. ?
