Amazon Echo/Alexa and Support for the Visually Impaired

Something that I recently realized is that the Amazon Echo/Alexa service may be used to support visually impaired people. The device (Echo/Dot/Tap) skills (applications for it) could both speak text to or prompt the user as well as listen for and act on responses. This again brings up the aspect of user experience in applications that do not require a keyboard or finger swipe action. Planning for and designing your application to also facilitate voice input and synthesized voice output is always something worthwhile to consider.
