Amazing Hotel Pools

I love the water. I enjoy swimming. One of the most important factors at a property I am staying is the swimming pool. I love exercising in the pool before breakfast. I love jumping in to cool off from the relentless heat. I love being in a well lit pool when the sun has set.

Here are a selection of hotel pools from across the globe that need to be on all water babies travel wish lists and I would be delighted to help you get there.

In the heart of Tanzania's amazing wildlife reserve, the Serengeti is the Four Seasons. This free form infinity pool offers a pretty special place to view families of elephants taking their morning drink. The lodge is a perfect base to go and see the Big Five - the lion. the leopard, the buffalo, the elephant, the rhinoceros - on the vast Serengeti plains. As well as the communal pools many rooms boast their own plunge pools.

OK, so this in an indoor pool at St Regis, Lhasa, Tibet. However it is lined with thousands of tiles plated in gold. Known as the Golden Energy Pool it contains therapeutic salt water constantly heated to 28-32 degrees. The St Regis Lhasa Resort faces the jaw dropping Potala Palace and is resident to Tibet's first ever fine dining restaurant.

The worlds largest infinity pool located at the top of the worlds most costly hotel building project. The Marina Bay Sands in Singapore boasts three 55 storey towers and 2,560 rooms and suites the construction costs totalled $5.66bn. Sitting atop the three towers is the SkyPark rooftop stretches longer than four A380 jumbo jets. The 150m pool sits 200m above the Singapore skyline and is filled with 1.4mn litres of water. What an amazing place for a swim.

What a stunning pool to do your pre breakfast laps in. The Lefay Resort in Lake Garda, Italy has amazing views over the lake and is situated on 27 acres of parkland to the west of the lake. The resort revolves around health and well-being with the pool being a real focal point offering wonderful views over the surrounding countryside and mountains.

In the heart of Rajasthan is Udaipur a city of beautiful palaces and lakes. Alongside the banks of Lake Pichola sits the Oberoi Udaivilas. Originally conceived as a traditional Indian palace, the hotel captures the Rajasthan heritage and boasts 2 majestic pools one facing the lake with the other centred around the courtyard. An amazing property in a wonderful region of India.

Nestled in the USA's Southwest desert of Utah, the Amangiri's stunning architecture blends amazingly well with the dramatic natural surroundings. The hotel is linked to the high end glamping site - Camp Sarika. Guests staying at either can use the pool which is sunken within a courtyard surrounded by a rock escarpment. A great place to unwind for a few nights whilst on your US road trip.

At he highest point in the village of Ravello, Italy sits the Belmond Caruso. A former medieval palace it overlooks the stunning Amalfi Coast and Tyrrhenian Sea. Its an intimate retreat with just 50 rooms and suites steeped in history. It also has one of the worlds best infinity pools splashed in by presidents, writers and film stars over the years.

Swimming and the Maldives go hand in hand and the Huvafen Fushi was one of the pioneer hotels and still stands strong. Recently refurbished the properties clear lagoon is home to one of the Maldives best house reefs. The large lagoon like infinity-edged pool has four poster day beds to sun bathe during the day and is beautifully lit by night. Romantic water babies welcome.

In the background sits Mount Agung looking down on the secluded seaside property which is Amankila, Bali. Just 34 thatched roof suites give wonderful views of the Lombok Strait. Nine of these have private pools however the spectacular three tiered infinity pool reminiscent of a rice paddy can be enjoyed by all guests. Simply stunning.

Grace Santorini in Greece has 21 innovatively refurbished rooms that showcase contemporary style with breath-taking views. The property is minimalist and blends bespoke design with traditional pristine white buildings. It also houses Santorini's largest hillside perched infinity pool with a vista that is hard to rival.
