The Origins
The generous vineyards, the sunny hills, the calcareous, lean, pebbly soil and the culture of making wine according to nature has accompanied for four generations the history and growth of the family of the winery we are talking about today: the Benedetti family. Towards the end of the 1800s Domenico Benedetti arrived in these lands to cultivate the vines, later Giuseppe Benedetti was the first to produce wine on the hills of #Valpolicella followed by his son Adriano and then by his grandchildren Simone and Matteo Benedetti, the fourth generation of winemakers who today they manage the entirely family-run company.
Since the mid-nineteenth century, the Benedetti family has been cultivating the land by combining traditional methods with updated and technologically advanced systems, perfecting the various stages of grape processing and winemaking over the years, and cultivating their land without ever resorting to chemical herbicides.
The area of production
The Benedetti family vineyards produce grapes on a unique terrain for exposure and quality, in the municipality of #Negrar, in the midst of the splendid Valpolicella, which DIAGO had the pleasure of visiting. The vineyards are on the back of a hill and are surrounded by terraces, dry stone walls and have always been known for their high quality, originality and authenticity.
The Benedetti family, on the "la Permuta" and "le Cortesele" farms, has scrupulously selected the best wines for more than a century: Amarone "la Permuta", #Recioto "la Permuta" produced with grapes that were once the object in exchange, among the winemakers of the area, the grapes that were used to obtain the best wines, including Valpolicella Ripasso.
