Am Shaping Sustainability with MIT - November 2022

“We never know the worth of water till the well is dry.” ~ Thomas Fuller

Dear Sustainability Community Members,

November 2022 was more profound learning around the sustainability ecosystem for two reasons: the majestic #MITOnCampus to do my #Sustainability certificate course from MIT Professional Education and the second one is together for implementation #justandambitious #cop27 COP27 - UN Climate Change Conference , where needed everyone's maximum action.

Super kudos to the entire team of coordinators for the excellent execution of #MITOnCampus , to name a few Clara Piloto Ed.M , Tavish Baker , Monica Kruglianskas, PhD , Sara Kells , and Global Alumni .

Day One was brilliant, from the welcome session to networking, but the masterclass from Prof. John Fernandez tops insightful.

#sustainabilityscopes

I got more profound insights from what is Sustainable scopes - scope 1(direct owned emissions), scope 2(indirectly purchased emissions), and scope 3(other indirectly purchased emissions).

Sustainability Principles

  • The balance between #earth and our needs and all other species
  • A new era of flourishing for all species on #earth
  • Value all human life today and in the future
  • Circular Global Economy

Then tour to the MIT Office of Innovation #iHQ is genuinely inspiring, and able to have conversations with a community that designs & builds next-gen world-changing discoveries, one hour of the great ride with Tim Miano .

Day Two was tremendous, with great insights from David Nino master class on "What does it take to build a strong senior leadership team?" I take away with a clean and clear understanding of managing(build stability, predictability) vs. leading (produce change, adaption). And the game of Lost at sea is mind bowling and includes the six essentials for designing leadership teams. Then the "Cultural Awareness For leading in a Globalized Work Environment" master class from Bhaskar Pant was brilliant.

Day 3 was incredibly great, starting with "Future Infrastructure For Circular Economies: Leveraging Connections Across Water, Energy, and Agriculture" from Dr. Afreen Siddiqi , including the #lineareconomy vs. #circulareconomy , then the "The Water-Energy-Food Nexus" story and the heard about the #wastetoenergy (WtE) possibilities, which I felt having more responsibilities.

Day 4 has many lists, but the #masterclass with Olivier L. de Weck on "Roadmapping the future of technology in space and on earth" was ultimate, including proud to have the signed copy of the book "Technology Roadmapping and Development - A Quantitative Approach to the Management of Technology." Then closing thought of "while we cannot predict the future exactly, we may attempt to bound it, bound the future #2100 was remarkable, more miles to go.
