Am I ready for the next level ?

Am I ready for the next level ?

As we advance through our careers, we will have certain inflexion points. Times when we need to up our game, and take on challenges and roles that we have not performed before.

At such times, many of us are plagued with doubts. Am I ready for this ? Do I have the skills required ? What if I don't succeed ? The range of doubting self talk is vast.

Many of us take a blind leap of faith at such times, and pick up any new skills needed as we go along. Some are plagued with self doubt and get paralysed into inaction and miss the opportunity.

Because of my background in corporate HR, several of my past colleagues have reached out to me when such challenges presented themselves. Today, as a practicing coach ; I often work with young leaders moving up to more challenging roles, and help them to settle down into them.

Whether or not we get paralysed with self doubt, or jump into the opportunity without a care depends to a large extent on our self belief. The weaker your self belief : the more risk averse you are likely to be , and vice-versa. Usually, failures early on in life may have restricted our thinking. We concluded that we could not sing or dance or speak in public, and nothing and no one in the world could get us to challenge our limiting beliefs and overcome these obstacles .

We fail to realise that as we grow and mature, our skillsets get sharpened, and something we were incapable of at 20 might be very easily accomplished at 40.

As a coach, I help my clients believe in themselves, and take calculated risks. I help them acquire the skills they may need, and most importantly, cultivate the self belief that will help them to overcome the limiting beliefs that hold them back.

We all operate at a fraction of our true potential, and feel satisfied with minor sucessesses, little knowing that we are capable of much more.

You just need to believe in yourself, and push your boundaries !!!!
