Am I Ready For The Change

I hope you all are staying healthy and safe at home. During this crisis situation of the Corona outbreak, we all are traveling though a grey tunnel of uncertainty still keeping hope in mind to end it soon. Utilized this locked down weekend to read a few more from books from my reading list and I read through Dr. Spencer Johnson's book, Who Moved My Cheese?

Although it has been more than two decades this book published and I am a bit late here still thought to key down some of the leanings that will help to motivate us to cope and adapt the changes during this pandemic and post-pandemic situation.

Once the Corona war is over A Big "CHANGE" is expected generating some unknown "FEAR" in our minds. Post situation change demand may come in all areas like skill sets, in traditional job pattern, in customer behavior, in human relations, in value systems, treating nature and environment etc etc. These changes may be positive or negative, I am not sure. But Most common questions waiving in today's time and minds -"How can I deal with sudden job loss for recession " OR " How can I overcome the unexpected loss in business after economic slowdown" etc. The change is only constant in life and it will always come on our way. Are we ready for that and how?

The essence of Who Moved My Cheese? is about how people cope up with change. This is a story of 4 characters. All these teach you the best way to deal with change. The characters live in a maze with many rooms and corridors. The cheese represents people's common desires. It can be anything a stable job, a successful business, a loving partner, good health, or a stress-free life.

What if the Cheese is taken away from my life? What should I do? I could relate my self in these four characters. Sometimes it's hard for me to accept the change, sometimes I feel stressed and depressed. As I followed these 4 characters I got the valuable learning that can be applied in the life journey

Few notable "Cheezy" lines that inspired me a lot are :

i. Life moves on and so should we” …

“What you are afraid of is never as bad as what you imagine. The fear you let build up in your mind is worse than the situation that actually exists.”

ii. “Being in an uncomfortable zone is much better than staying in a cheese-less situation .”

iii. “If you do not change, you can become extinct !”

iv. "Smell the cheese often so that you know when it is getting old."

v."Let go of old cheese quicker so you can find new cheese sooner."

vi."Movement in a new direction helps you find new cheese."

vii. "Imagining yourself enjoying the new cheese leads you to achieve it."

viii. "Old beliefs do not lead you to new cheese:"

Let me summarize some of the words mentioned in the book by the Author:

 i. Anticipate change.

ii. Adapt quickly to the change.

iii. Enjoy change and be ready to change quickly again and again.

So, end learning is that keep moving ahead without any fear. Fear is always our unknown imagination. Change becomes constructive if we deal with it correctly.

I am sure some of you must have already read this book but still if someone has not, I would recommend going through the book once.

DO share your views on it.
