Am I Growing?

“Growth” is a wonderful term.
?The term in itself assumes a lot of Class but like Truth, it has different versions and each one of us attaches a different meaning or definition to it, based on our own priorities. Answers to the following questions can help one define “Growth” from his or her perspective:
Each of these questions is critical in determining if one is on the path of “Growth”. Only personal motivation with no money could be a dampener. On the other hand, only money and no personal growth / individuality / happiness could be futile. A simple “Yes” to even one of the above questions could mean “Growth” to some, whereas for some, a “Yes” to even all the questions may not be “Growth”. The journey of “Growth” hits a roadblock when our thought process gets largely skewed in favour of just one of the questions, thereby not being open to the other questions, which could be equally important growth drivers.

It is very true that there may never be a time of a "perfect" balance, but the real question is - are we consciously trying to recognise each of the growth drivers and making an attempt to at least attain the Balance. Only if we try, will we be closer.
What is important is to be conscious of ALL possible Growth drivers and to rationally give them due importance and appropriate weights, at the right time. That should bring us closer to the more reasonable (and I consciously use the word 'reasonable') version of Truth and provide a certain degree of satisfaction.
That is when we answer the moot question – “Am I growing?”

3 年Growing and maturing into a full professional is a long term process. It requires patience and perseverance. It is about realising that there is more to growth… sometimes intangible and more valuable. Dhaval Trivedi ????
Excellent perspective Dhaval Trivedi . Growth is actually a matter of perception and at times determined by what your peers tell you and feel rather than what you yourself feel and believe. In the constant desire to achieve growth (as per others) we stop assessing what is real growth and what do you want as growth. Good thoughts. Makes people ponder on something which is very important and critical.

3 年Dhaval Trivedi can't agree more. We have been used to define growth in terms of what can be measured. At times, the qualitative aspects are far high in terms of importance but we fail to recognise growth in that simply because they are not measurable. We must make conscious efforts to really identify 'What do I work for? and 'Where do I wish to reach?'. Give an honest answer to yourself and work hard to achieve that. You will not only achieve Growth but also be the happiest. I did this exercise a decade back and believe me it really works.
