“There's no way I'd hire offshore!”
I’ve heard that more than a dozen times, and trust me…
It’s the wrong mindset to have
If there's somebody that I've hired locally, there's a reason for it and I would never want that person removed and replaced offshore!
If I've got somebody that's amazing offshore, why would I replace them with somebody locally?
Both have their places in the workplace now and it wouldn’t make any logical sense to substitute one for the other.
But of course, some people will obviously get worried and feel threatened about workplaces getting filled with offshore staff.
And
So, who are the main people that usually raise this issue?
Students and graduates!
Understandably, they feel threatened but I’m here to tell you that there’s nothing to worry about.
I know what they’re thinking:
They're threatened by their experience getting thrown away, just because a company can hire for cheaper offshore.
I’m telling you right now, this isn’t the case at all.
They’ve got to shift their focus and mindset
What they need to understand is that they need to use what they’ve learnt and utilize it differently.

A much better way for their own growth.
Instead of complaining and worrying, they need to change their mindset to say:
“Hang on a minute…in this climate and environment, how can I use my skills to be upgraded?”
It's the same with all skills.
You have to think about how you can adapt to changing workplaces, and find the best way to use the skills you have to help keep growing.
They still have the local knowledge by being onshore and that’s something no offshore person has.
Once students change their thoughts in this direction, they’ll be able to see how they can become proper leaders for any offshore worker.
Never underestimate the importance of the skills learnt and how you can utilize them.
