Am I getting better? Should I do something else?

Every once and then, you need to stop for a while and ask yourself two critical questions:
- Am I getting better?
- Should I do something else?
Your career path and well-being and even HAPPINESS are defined by how you answer these questions.
I was inspired by a flash back to the work I’ve done in recent years and how it took me almost 5 years to achieve what once was just a hidden idea on my mind, that I didn’t even realized it was there at that time.
Am I getting better?
Are you? No one can answer this question for you. Yes of course you can have some recommendations and evaluation from around, but who can be more honest than that little voice inside your heart who whispers every once in a while, just at the right time:
“There you go, that’s exactly what we’ve been looking for”.
Or in some other occasions:
“I told you that was a baaaad idea.”
We’ve all been here and there. And hearing the second whisper more often doesn’t mean that you’re going the wrong way, sometimes it just means that you need to figure things out and think a little more about them before you go and do them!
Trust yourself more than anyone else, know your abilities and what you can do, challenge your limits, GET BETTER!
Should I do something else?
That’s a hard one! Getting better in something doesn’t really mean that you should spend your life doing it. Life is too short to spend it on one thing, on one passion.
Excelling in your career and moving forward doesn’t conflict with this. You can always have a bit of the two worlds, I fact, why not three or four worlds!
Who said “you can’t win them all”? have a career, one that you love, have a freelance career, something you like doing but doesn’t really pays the bills! Do voluntary work, never waste your entre day working 9 hours in a company just to get your paycheck! That’s a killer.
Do something else, no matter how small or big it is, never get stuck.
