Am I Chopped Liver? Can I Live?

I've been on this platform for quite some time. In fact, I'll go ahead and put a time on it, I've been here since 2009ish! Was LinkedIn even around then? ?? Even if it wasn't; I was here anyway dammit! ??

Since Then

I have witnessed the rise and fall of many a 'LinkedIn Famous' person. They come, engratiate themselves, grow, become A-holes before going supernova and burning out. Never ever have I wished to follow this path and so I deliberately kept my circle small and interactions limited. ??

I'd post! I'd keep my profile up to date, I'd encourage people I knew to get on it early and yet after all this time, I never really stopped to ask myself, "What has LinkedIn actually ever done for me in return?" The answer is nothing really! ??

People seem nice, they say the right things and then you come to see it's all talk and performative. The skinfolk aint kinfolk here a lot of the time, the pages/companies declaring how diverse they are turn out to be the greatest red flaggers ??on the platform. Nothing is what it seems here and I suppose that has to include me. Why? People think I don't know any better, not remotely smart enough to work out how disingenuous they are and worst of all; they don't believe in a writer's ability to silently and accurately assess character LMAO I'm the 3 eyed raven up in this bih...

LinkedIn isn't Improving

For years the problems have been the same. LinkedIn thinks it's an employers tool when it is clear it should be a job seeking/networking opportunity cornucopia. Certain 'be the change you want to see' opportunities have been in front of them for eons (relatively) and they refuse to lift a finger.

1. Salary transparency ??
2. Blocking and reporting red flag employers ??
3. Reviews on companies/agencies ??????
4. Promotion of minority subject material in a non trivial/token delivery system ???
5. Many more I could name from this in-exhaustive list but I'm not on LI payroll so say less ??

Why Stay?

At this point I use LinkedIn to showcase my unapologetic style and focus. I say what I want because I can! Having never gained anything here no one can accuse me of playing a role and that's from being one of the earliest adopters of this platform.

I just told you! I'm here to say it how it is and show you that a lot of what you hear here has been said before. Remember when it was all Brigette and Gary? Haha! Well, now you have Austin peddling his muck. I laughed extremely hard at 'thanking people for rejecting you' as some type of job finding hack LMAO! What a massive tool!

Racism Here!

Listen! I've seen my fair share of bigotry on here and yet the truth is, this platform is most likely ran by bigots! You've seen Scooby Doo don't act surprised! They're entirely too happy to let it run for it to be any other way. That and bigots probably spend the most here! You could never change this place from the inside to be honest; LinkedIn doesn't hire anyone particularly off the beaten path.

Maybe Move To America?

I get this recommendation far too frequently. Still, I have such high hopes of carving out a legend for myself right here in the UK. It's tough as I mostly vibe with and have a rapport with Americans it's strange. That has been the case across screenplays, films, books, music and pretty much everything else I do. The UK legit hates me! Wow, I actually never really noticed that (I did and do LOL). Maybe that's my fatal flaw, wanting to dance a yard before dancing abroad...
