Being an eternal optimist and a lover of life, I’m thinking and sharing the following with you:
- There is joy in being given and then in accepting the responsibility to support all the needs of someone who is living with Alzheimer’s.
- After the crying is over once a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s is given to a loved one, determination is what will get you through the journey.
- When Alzheimer’s scares you to death, it always feels better to create an explanation that makes sense and will supports us emotionally.
- Do you believe in God or a Higher Power? Judy Blume wrote that “God helps you through it [Alzheimer’s]”. What do you think?
- You hold the power to make a difference and to change the course of dementia care.

9 年It can be a hard road but if you accept the person as a whole. Past, present and future. It can be a rewarding if emotional journey. Patience. Looking for clues. Fast reaction to mood and comments... So much that can transform lives for this with Alzheimer's. There may come s time when one just can't cope alone. Help is out there. Reach out. When that gets too much, you can contribute so Much to the environment of s care home. One can never know where the journey may lead. Heartache may and probably will, ensue. Be brave and ask for help when you need it. We all need it at some time.
