Alyan Winery: Crafting Great Chilean Wine Experiences with a Family Touch

Alyan Family Wines

Maipo Valley, Santiago, Chile

In the heart of Chile’s Maipo Valley, a winemaking tale of passion, tradition, and unwavering dedication unfolds. Alyan Family Wines, founded in 2001 by Alicia Balmaceda and Andrés Perez, stands as a testament to their shared love for the craft and their deep-rooted connection to the land.

The origins of Alyan Family Wines can be traced back to the rich winemaking heritage of its founders. Andrés is the grandson of Francisco Pérez, a revered grape grower in the Maule Valley, while Alicia is the granddaughter of Pedro Undurraga, the visionary behind one of Chile’s oldest and most esteemed wineries, The Undurraga Wine Company. With such esteemed lineage, it was almost destiny that their lives would be intertwined with the art of winemaking.

From the early days of their marriage, Alicia and Andrés were determined to dedicate themselves to their shared passion: wine. They began their journey by contributing to the growth of Santa Carolina winery, immersing themselves in the intricacies of the winemaking process. However, they yearned for more, an opportunity to create something truly their own, a testament to their unique vision.

With the support of their friends, Alicia and Andrés took a leap of faith and founded Vi?a Santa Alicia, a winery that would honor Alicia’s family legacy. For 17 successful years, Vi?a Santa Alicia thrived, exporting millions of bottles of premium wines annually. However, the time had come for the couple to embark on their next great adventure: the establishment of their very own winery, Alyan Family Wines.
