Always look ahead

Always look ahead

Daniel what is your background?

I moved to Belgium from my home country, Romania, to study at university; at that time, I chose to study economics to have a broad variety of choices once graduated; Then I did a master’s degree in international and sustainable finance, two internships in a major FMCG player and a logistics company. I also had the chance to go to China and Scotland for a summer school and exchange semester.

And then what happened

I realized the position I was covering was narrow oriented. I am the kind of person who needs to see many aspects of the business, especially as I am in a moment of life of professional growth. I saw the QSRP graduate opportunity, and I thought that could be ideal for me.

And so, you landed in QSRP!

Yes! I was thrilled because I saw all the growth opportunities for young people like me. I was offered 2 different positions and I started my first one in finance at the group level. It’s been great because I was impressed by how many responsibilities and impact I’ve had so far. The outcomes of my work have always been visible, preparing documents and reports for external and internal stakeholders. I learned new skills, being given trust.

What’s going to be next?

I am soon switching my role to finance but with a focus on Burger Brands Belgium. Working so far at a group level really gave me a thorough understanding of finance across many countries and brands, so I am happy I will bring my knowledge and put it into practice in a more operational context. It will be about learning a more vertical approach than before. Luckily, QSRP is always in constant change and expansion, so you always have new potential opportunities; and for someone like me that’s great!

You mentioned you receive a lot of training being a graduate, like mentoring. How’s your experience with that?

I love mentoring. It is a great opportunity to receive an external look and a different point of view on your job and career path. It helped me guide some of my decisions; I love change, I am a very dynamic person, so having somebody to help me in navigating different routes is so helpful. It is a great way to have new ideas.
