Always get a signed contract before you commit to working for or with anyone!

My biggest Linacre of this year, read below for something interesting.

Firstly, I’d like to say that I take full responsibility for how this story ended.

I have started renovating the third house this year, yep, you heard me correctly is the end of October and I’ve started renovating the third house.

I thoroughly enjoy working with my previous hands-on skills.

I think that there is a part of every man that is truly creative, and when given the space to be creative, men can come up with some really interesting and unique designs.

Sylvia Plath mentions this in her book. The unabridged journals of Sylvia Plath:

“The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt“

And it was very interesting to witness her words throughout this book.

What does this quote bring up for you?

For me, it immediately made me think about my own level of self-doubt, and that when I put my mind to something, I get inspired by other people’s work, and then naturally become creative in my own space.

At the end of last year, I was asked if I would like to put my handyman skills to work and be creative with some renovations.

Without hesitation, I went into self-doubt, which then lead me to improve my skills.

I also saw the flashes of money before my eyes.

as I started to begin the process, I was asked what sort of differences could we make through these renovations.

My reward system kicked in, and I went into creativity mode, all of a sudden my ego was in a place of joy.

As one house was drawing to a bottleneck, the second house was available for some modifications, once again, I got extremely excited and my ego took over, and I felt like there was a place where I could prove myself.

Ameya Agrawal says:

“What is the best thing about people doubting your potential?

The pleasure of proving them wrong.”

This was me to a tea, anywhere I could prove someone wrong I was there.

Another limiting belief I had unearthed, conquered, and championed.

The belief of “I'm not Capable”

This is also one of the belief spices that I have learnt through William Whitecloud, so this just backs up the belief and how much this is culturally universal.

Fast forward eight months and 95% of the work is complete.

That’s the exciting part.

However, my funds were running low.

I had to call Sam shots. I made some decisions, and before I knew it, I had no contract to fall back on.

I let my ego get in the way, trying to prove myself.

This was one of the hardest lessons that I’ve had to go through so that I can come to terms with what mistakes I’ve made.

Idowu Koyenikan mentions this in the book. Wealth for all:

“There are certain life lessons that you can only learn in the struggle.”

It stale struggle to feel freedom.

In order for me to stop, trying to prove my existence and my skills, and my knowledge, I had to go through this lesson, I had to put my ego aside and realise to stay in my lane and do the work I love doing in the leadership space. It’s not about proving myself or the money.

So you’re probably wondering why I’m renovating another house.

The first two houses were not for me they were part of a deal, but I never got a contract signed.

This current house is one of our family houses, and I’m really enjoying renovating where once upon a time I used to grow up.

BEFORE
AFTER

Stop presenting and start having conversations, never lower your price, and always get a contract signed before the commitment to start working with someone or for someone.
