Always deliver more.

Always deliver more.

For the longest time I have been thinking about how I wanted to deliver a new article. It wasn’t until I say the picture above that I knew that was a perfect representation of what I wanted to say.

When I was younger I played baseball. In baseball there are a lot of similes to life.

You’re next up to bat. You are practicing swinging with the batter that is up currently. You try and time your swing perfectly so that you can get a good hit and get on base. The batter up hits a fly ball and the opposing player catches the ball. Your nerves start to hit as your mind races thinking, “will that happen to me? will I hit a fly ball and get out?”

As you walk up to home plate get in your stance and ready for the pitch. Mentally prepared and ready to hit the ball.

STRIKE ONE!

BALL ONE!

STRIKE TWO!

BALL TWO!

BALL THREE!

It’s full count. Your mind starts racing. This is it. Either I walk to first or get out.

Here comes the pitch. You connect! Grounder, in between short stop and third base. You take off running towards first. In your head you think it’s a guarantee base. As you approach first you slow down to stop right on first. The ball comes flying in, the first baseman catches it and the umpire calls you out!

You’re devastated! How could something appear such a guarantee; such a perfect situation and then suddenly you’re out, done, and not even on the field.

The moral is don’t slow down because you assume you’ve won

The plate isn’t the finish line.

Don’t just meet the expectations for your customers. Always go above and beyond. Your goal should be to always impress and amaze. Push past the limits and push farther than you thought possible. Always deliver more. Don't slow down when your goal is coming near. Keep running full speed ahead!

Your customers need to be your #1 priority!
