Alumni Spotlight: Tripp Mulligan '17

Elon Graduation Year: 2017

Current NYC Neighborhood: Greenwich Village, near Washington Square Park. I love the vibrant atmosphere of the neighborhood.

Immediate Post-Grad Position: I moved to NYC right after graduation and began working at Ridgetop Research, selling investment research to hedge funds and private equity firms.

Current Position: Consultant at Korn Ferry in their Executive Pay & Governance practice. I help design executive compensation philosophies that support company goals, salaries, incentive structures, competitive assessment, governance, and more.

Advice on Changing Companies: Finding a new job can feel like a second job in itself! Definitely leverage your network – friends, colleagues, alumni – anyone could be a connection. It's normal for the process to feel stressful, so take care of yourself and don't be afraid to step away and recharge when you need to.

Important Skills for My Field: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential. The ability to think critically and analyze problems is vital. Comfort with Excel and PowerPoint is a huge plus.

Openings in NYC: ?Yes! We're currently hiring for mid-level positions at Korn Ferry. I'm happy to help anyone with career advice and the available opportunities at Korn Ferry.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years professionally, and does your current role accommodate your desired growth/path? My goal is to continue developing professionally. I'm excited to build upon my current skills and explore new opportunities as they arise. My role at Korn Ferry offers excellent potential for growth, and I'm eager to see where this path leads.

Are you up to anything outside of work worth sharing with the community (i.e., a podcast, new business venture, side hustle, etc.) and how do you find time to juggle everything? Outside of my main career, I'm a signed aspiring model with remade management. I'm focused on booking e-commerce ad campaigns with various brands. It's a great side hustle, and I enjoy the creative environment and the connections I've made. Finding a balance can be challenging, but I prioritize taking action and try to be mindful about how I spend my time.

In a bustling and competitive city like New York, how do you define success in your life/career, and how does that definition keep you grounded? Success lies in appreciating the small victories and finding gratitude in everyday accomplishments. This perspective helps me navigate the challenges and stay grounded amidst life's fast pace.

What is the best way for Alumni to engage with you? - i.e., LinkedIn, IG, etc (whatever you are comfortable with) Please feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn! I'm always happy to offer support and advice to fellow Elon alumni.
