Alumni Guest Speaker at 2020 Matric Prize Giving
On the 1st of October SAHETI honored our Matric Class of 2020 for their academic, sporting and cultural accolades. In a year where uncertainty has dominated the narrative, they have stood firm and shown that with uncertainty, new opportunities arise. The guest speaker and alumnus, Pano Hadjipaschalis (Class of 2017) addressed the group and delivered a powerful message.
Our guest speaker Pano, matriculated in 2017 after completing his entire schooling career at SAHETI, where he was also elected Head Boy. He enjoyed participating in numerous sports and cultural activities that SAHETI offers and particularly enjoyed his role in the musical production “Footloose”. He was named the Dux Scholar in his grade every year from grade 7 to matric and achieved full house distinctions in matric in all 9 of his subjects. He was named an outstanding achiever of the IEB and was ranked in the top 1% for 5 of his subjects. He received the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship Award as one of the top 10 matriculants countrywide who register to study at the University of the Witwatersrand, which includes a full scholarship for the duration of his studies. He is currently in his 3rd year of Actuarial Science and has been named on the Dean’s list for every year of study so far.
During the Prize Giving Ceremony, in recognition of their arduous journey in a pandemic year, the Matric Class of 2020 were awarded the Alexander Stephanou trophy, for their courage against adversity and perseverance in the face of a difficult journey. SAHETI School congratulates the Matric Class and in particular all the award recipients and our 2020 Dux Scholar – George Georgiades.
