Altis UK Data & Analytics Newsletter: December 2023
Hello!
It's hard to believe that 2023 is already coming to an end. Thank you to the Altis UK team for all that you do and thank you to our clients for your ongoing support and partnership.
We’re excited to launch a new version of the Altis Power BI Insights solution enabling you to understand your licensing costs in addition to tracking the usage of Power BI objects across your entire estate. Please contact me if you’d like to schedule a call to see the solution in action and discuss how it might be suitable for your needs.
I'm going to cover the following in this edition of the Altis UK Data & Analytics newsletter:
I invite you to share our newsletter with your colleagues and network and as always, please feel free to get in touch with me directly if you’d like to learn more about how we can help you with your Data & Analytics needs.
1. Track Power BI usage & licence costs across your entire estate with Altis Power BI Insights
Organisations invest significant resources in developing Power BI reporting solutions and they expect to be able to understand the usage of these solutions and the licensing costs. The out-of-the-box Microsoft Power BI “Report Usage Metrics” provides limited usage reporting and does not flag Power BI objects that have not been used. It also only stores 90 days of report usage metrics data. This makes it very laborious to see the entirety of your Power BI estate and severely limits historical usage reporting. There is also no way to see the Power BI licensing costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
The Altis Power BI Insights solution allows you to see your entire estate at a glance and track the full history of usage across your organisation to better support your adoption strategy.
The Altis Power BI Insights solution also allows you to see the Power BI licensing costs and which users are not using the solution, therefore providing you cost saving opportunities.
The Altis Power BI Insights solution is part of the broader Altis Power BI Framework which can further accelerate your journey to best practice. Please contact me if you’d like to schedule a call to see the solution in action and discuss how it might be suitable for your needs.

Course spotlight: Power BI Data Modelling
Attendees of this one-day Power BI Data Modelling course will learn why we need to model data in Power BI according to industry dimensional modelling standards and what happens when we don’t. They will then learn how to apply best practice Power BI data modelling techniques to design a data model that optimises performance, ease of use, flexibility, and accuracy.
