The "alternative" world of children

We recently celebrated Children’s Day in India (November 14th). The origin or reason for celebrating this evet invokes multiple opinions from different people. ?Yet everyone adores the significance that is meant to be shared through this day every year – children.? By children, I am specifically stating the age group of “just-born” to 14/15 years. You may disagree with the range and this is purely my opinion based on personal experiences.

But it is agreeable that children are not impacted by the biggest evils of the world today – Greed, urge for power/money, high-headedness (extremists of any faith), and lust. This edition of my newsletter explores or rather compares how children are much ahead of all grown-ups in different dimensions of life.

·??????? Greed- ??Kids and early teenagers are ignorant of the greed of money for money, property or power. You can’t find young children fighting over this is my portion of the room or destroying property in other rooms. Take a classroom for an example. Do kids tax each other whenever they share food, notes, stationery etc.?

·??????? Racism – Kids may be black, white, brown, or any color with which the modern world classifies human beings; children don’t bother! You may be tall, short, stout, thin, or any size. You remain friends and do not post adverse comments on social media stating that only kids of a particular “color” or nationality have an advantage. There are no separate classes or chairs for children of different color! Besides, children of different states in India exist harmoniously,

·??????? Religion - ??This is perhaps one of the biggest influences of crime/hatred in today’s world.? I am disgusted to say this, but politics anywhere in the world, revolves around this factor; either directly or through hidden messages. ?Children of different faiths, sit together, eat together, and even pray together. No one claims their religion is right and the other is wrong.

·??????? Lust – Yes, I admit that that is subject to argument as a rising number of cases have been reported. But this is solely because of the growing influence of social media and the exposure to scenes in films.? If not, children do not understand “what” or “why”.

There are several more traits but these are the ones that first came to my mind. Imagine if the world was ruled by kids? What a peaceful and beautiful place would that be? Yes, I am being abstract and my imagination is running wild. Yet, wouldn’t anyone love that alternative world? The next time you see your child or any child for that matter; remember; that is the face of God. That is how God (of any name) wanted you to be. Alas! This part of any common Indian or any citizen is often ignored..
