Altera—Accelerating Innovators

We’ve started 2024 with a BANG—the announcement of our new company name and brand! The Programmable Solutions Group (PSG) of Intel is now ALTERA – An Intel Company. Personally, it has been an exciting journey to lead the creation of this new identity and work alongside great minds. Why did we choose February 29 to announce? Because 2024 is a Leap Year and Feb. 29 is Leap Day—and Altera is dedicated to innovators who have ideas that “leap ahead” to brilliant, fresh solutions that benefit us all.

?As we leap into our next adventure, we have one overarching goal: Altera is all about Accelerating Innovation. As our CEO Sandra Rivera shared during the Feb. 29 Webcast, Altera’s vision is to help shape the future by enabling innovation that unlocks extraordinary possibilities for everyone on the planet. Our vision is activated by our company mission to provide easy-to-design-and-deploy leadership programmable solutions for our customers and partners.

Our Story is Captured in Our Brand Image

We thought a lot about what we wanted our brand to mean to our employees, customers and partners. We provide a smart environment for new ideas to flourish based on leading technology, mutual trust, and proven know-how. The name Altera makes us think of the potential we have to help our customers ALTER the world for the better. That’s the Altera base to which we add the “spark of innovation,” represented by that little square above the final “a”. The Altera Spark is foundational to our brand—it’s the innovation in our products, and the innovation of our customers inventing new applications and solutions.

The four sides of the Altera Spark help remind us of those who matter most to us: Employees, Partners, Customers and the Developers. These are the people who bring their ideas to life with our flexible products.

Finally, the slant on the top of the final “a” represents a rising runway for our customers and their world-changing ideas—we call it the “Acceleration Angle” because our driving passion is to accelerate their innovation.
