Aloha Friday Motivation | Perspective | #261
Happy Aloha Friday!
They say it is all about perspective. Glass half full versus empty, beautiful day versus miserable. You can be moody and petulant, or you can be calm, cool and collected. Did you ever think that the way you think informs much about how you feel and who you are as a person. Well, what is common knowledge, as they say, is not always common practice. Harnessing the Power of Positivity is similar to cultivating a toned or muscular body. Like daily trips to the gym, running, cycling, yoga, in order to achieve a positive mental mindset, you must train your mind to think positively and therefore see the positive. Words you use, thoughts you have, all contribute to how you perceive the world. And yes, its not always easy, but neither are going to the gym, running, cycling, yoga...or hang gliding!
As an exercise to this, in my household, recently, we eradicated the word “chore” from our vocabulary. We now refer to the daily tasks that need to be accomplished as “Get-To’s.” It’s these little changes, like the “Get-To’s” done around the house that keep it neat and clean, that built up over time, help us rewire our brains, gradually brightening our world view; and they can have the most profound impact. Because, in the end, it’s all about perspective, right. So, light the match!

Here are two tracks, from artists who celebrate an early September birthday, that are the poster children for reframing, finding positivity and being present. While at first glance Otis Redding - (Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay, is about a person lamenting at life, it is actually a coming of age story captured in under three minutes about a person who has seen hardship, felt hopelessness, but still sees the beauty in life and understands that you have to stop for a moment to recognize it. With almost exactly the same message, P!NK - All I Know So Far, finds beauty in the despair and struggle. ?
