Almost a wrap for 2021
Assetlink 2021 - End of year function with some of my team

Almost a wrap for 2021

In reflection on the closing of 2021, several sentiments come to mind.

1) “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans” – John Lennon. This quote rings true as I review my strategic goals developed at the beginning of 2021. Although a lot of excellent work has been delivered that continues to contribute value to our team members and customers, a reset is needed to reevaluate, reprioritise in preparedness for 2022.?

2) Review my current hybrid work practices to establish a practical, effective and sustainable approach for 2022. I am factoring in my approach to hybrid working with how this may affect my team and colleagues.?

3) I have a consistent recursive reflection to enjoy the journey no matter the perceived state. Life’s journey provides experiences and associated emotions, regardless of whether good, bad or indifferent. As a teenager, I would ruminate about being older, wanting to enjoy the perceived freedoms of my elders, when in reality, I was having the time of my life. I continue to remind myself to be present, enjoy the current moments, and don’t agonise over what’s to come.

4) Acknowledge the successes amid a tumultuous period. COVID has been the driving impetus for change. I have experienced widespread collective acceptance of change that in pre-COVID would have taken tremendous change management effort to achieve.

5) Assess and plan your learning goals, not just your business goals and objectives. I am just in my final subject of completing a Masters in Information Management, in which I have found the journey and learnings to be invaluable. Furthermore, it has been the practice of researching, analysing and writing that has afforded me growth and development.

Keep it simple. Make a plan. Engage. Execute. Check if it worked. Adjust. Reap the rewards. Then repeat. I can help with that.
