Almost done
In another 4 days my actual project will end. Am I happy or satisfied?
No, just because it created too much headache the last weeks. The client was informed by his 90% customer that they will reduce the orders by 80%. So my client dismissed immediately a group of people. When I say ?people“ it is always a number of employees from production rather than admin. Is this respect? Respect for those, who worked overtime and Saturdays to make the planned numbers….when admin and engineers already had a funny weekend.
The challenge given by the recruiting company who engaged me was, to support and guide the client to increase the output by 200% within 6 months. Well, it took 7 months…which i still not too bad and was a great effort by the production managers event here was limited support by the engineering team and senior management. As the client was just growing too fast, there were no standards, no structure, no KPIs etc existing. This was build up parallel and aside that Lean tools were implemented aside all the hectic to manufacture and deliver the requested numbers. I am proud to have worked with the production team and to help them in this challenging situation. As very often, the resistance for CHANGE came by senior management who still have a management style which is old-fashioned ???????(?I tell you what you have to do!“) ?accept no ideas from the floor and do not know what RESPECT means.

So, am I happy/satisfied? As the orders dropped by 80% another group of workers have to be layed off in near future, the answer is no. Anyway I met again some great people with the right attitude, just in the wrong?company. I am absolutely sure, together we could had continuously improved production.
Well, after 7 months it is time now for some vacation.

3 年It’s so sad that this attitude is prevalent through out many companies. Even when they say they want to change and apply lean and six sigma to there stoic and out dates culture. Seems they can not get past the old school thinking of “this is how we have always done it” attitude. Good luck on your next project.
