Almost 4.5 Acres = 21780 square yards’ land of Jamia Millia Malir is available in the center of Karachi for establishing a World Class University

but before you get to the Plan Read these ten facts please

1.????This piece of Land was acquired by Prof Mahmud Hussain for the sole purpose of education in Pakistan specially for the under privileged and poor people.

2.????Professor Mahmud Hussain Khan (1907-1975) was an educationist by passion whose family were the founders of Jamia Millia Delhi in 1920. However, he was strong advocate for independent Pakistan so he migrated to Pakistan in 1947. He served in government as deputy defense minister, education minister, minister for Kashmir affairs, minister of state & politician etc till 1954. He served as the First Professor of History and international Relations in Karachi University. Also remained Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University and Karachi University.

3.????Apart from these 4.5 acres of land yet another set of 14 acres was also leased out to Prof Mahmud Hussain some of which were used to construct 80 sq. yards houses by Jamia Millia Malir Society for the teachers and their families who used to teach in Jamia Millia (approx. 2000 sq. yards).

4.????In 1973 amidst Nationalization 14 acres of the extra land that was earlier under the control of Jamia Millia Malir was taken over by government including those 24 houses which were constructed by Jamia Millia Malir with an agreement that rent from those houses will be paid to Jamia. Gradually the houses were transferred / encroached by locals who have stopped paying rent to Jamia Millia. Post denationalization the rights to this additional land and property can be reclaimed.

5.????Jamia Millia Malir Complex was center of educational excellence for many years specially till Prof Mahmud Hussain was alive however gradually some of the parts were encroached by local pressure groups.

6.????Jamia Millia Malir Board of Director was once headed by Professor Dr Atta ur Rahman, PhD Ex Federal Minister for Education. These Days it includes

7.????For almost Twenty Years the complex was rented out to Preston University Islamabad and this year their contract has finished.

8.????The Jamia Malir Complex can only be given on rent or lease for purpose of education through a majority vote by the Executive Committee but who so ever shall be lessee must cater for some percentage of free education for poor people.

9.????Any organization or entity that aspires to use the existing infrastructure space for the above purpose shall be restricted to make Prof Mahmud Hussain’s name as part of their campus name i.e. Mahmud Hussain Campus.

10.?Suggestion are

a.????There are more than 37 PhD Educationist (Some Young and some seasoned and retired) List available with the team who can transform again the place the way Professor Mahmud Hussain dreamt it to be as good as Jamia Mille New Delhi that is listed amongst top 500 universities of the world. Independent Charter may be solicited from Sindh Assembly for which Education Minister has already shown commitment.

b.????K-Electric, Engro, Fauji Foundation, Lucky Group, House of Habib or some other group with capacity and vision can enter into MOU with Jamia Millia Malir and build yet another world class University in Karachi.

c.?????Some private entity like NIXOR, FPS, Beacon house, City School, Roots or Iqra the one having approved charter for Higher Education can also take lead for MoU with above pre conditions, intact.

11.?Last but not the least I request all government organizations, agencies, rangers, judges, advocates, locals, influential, ministers to support the cause and the intent with which Professor Mahmud Hussain served this country for improving education and education system.

12.?Please keep sharing and spreading the message till we establish a social media support and campaign against land mafias, local encroachers, pressure groups.
