- The investigation: India's Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) is investigating claims that China and Vietnam are dumping "Textured Tempered Coated and Uncoated Glass" (also known as solar glass) in the Indian market at unfairly low prices.
- The complaint: Borosil Renewables Ltd., representing the domestic solar industry, filed the complaint requesting an anti-dumping duty on imports.
- Potential outcome: If the DGTR finds evidence of dumping causing harm to Indian solar companies, it can recommend anti-dumping duties on imports from China and Vietnam. The final decision on imposing duties rests with the Finance Ministry.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has decided to reimpose the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for solar photovoltaics modules, with some exemptions, starting April 1, 2024.
- The ALMM aims to promote domestic manufacturing of solar panels.
- It will apply to government-sponsored solar projects, rooftop solar projects, and PM KUSUM scheme components that receive government subsidies. Private solar power projects will be exempt.Join our WhatsApp channel "Get curated personalized news from solar industry to stay ahead!!
