After a month of some serious step taking, we’re over the moon to have successfully completed our fundraising challenge for the Prince’s Trust through their Future Steps challenge!
Future Steps challenge
The Future Steps challenge was an exciting team fundraising event from the Prince’s Trust. Its aims were to engage people from across the UK to get fit with fellow employees whilst having fun, and raise funds to help young people transform their future. People were challenged to get together in a group of six to achieve a minimum of 1,680,000 steps (equating to 795 miles) over a four week period.
Almeda’s achievements
Almeda grabbed hold of the Future Steps challenge with both hands (and feet). Through four teams of six, we worked hard (with only a little bit of friendly competition) to individually reach at least 10,000 of an individual’s recommended daily amount of steps.
At the end of the challenge, we’re really proud to announce that we collectively achieved an astounding 7,705,446 steps, equating to a whopping 3,648 miles. This passed the target set by the Prince’s Trust by 985,446 steps (467 miles). Our star hot stepper was our engineer Mark Harvey, who racked up 532,553 steps (252 miles!) over the month, averaging over double of an individual’s daily recommended limit!
We’re absolutely delighted with everyone’s tremendous efforts, something that truly demonstrates how we live and breathe our core values, especially that of building positive teams and a family spirit. Collectively we raised just under £1,000 for the Prince’s Trust. This money will be fed into projects to provide young people aged 13 to 30 opportunities to get into jobs, education and training.
Giving something back
Almeda took part as equal opportunities for everyone is something that we’re passionate about, alongside the health and wellbeing of individuals; we hope to act as ambassadors of our fundamental principles and inspire others to keep fit and active, while giving back to the community and environment around us.
