PaperWeight AI?leverages?paper-based sensor technology to transform traditional retail operations?and offer real-time data analysis solutions for better inventory management, waste reduction, theft detection, and increased operational efficiency. The technology has already attracted significant interest from both national and international companies and is already being tested by a leading retailer in Portugal. AlmaScience at the Smart Food Chain consortium meeting

?? The Smart Food Chain project aims to develop effective smart packaging technologies to bring food supply chains to the 21st century and reduce food waste by 20%, while also tackling packaging waste.

Our CTO, Luis Pereira , and our VP for Business Development, Yoni Engel , attended one more edition of the AIPIA World Congress, the meeting point for the smart and connected packaging, and the first in-person meeting of the Smart Food Chain consortium, this past November 18-19.

AlmaScience at Aveiro’s “University 5.0 Job Fair”

???? It was with great pleasure that AlmaScience was present at the “University 5.0 Job Fair”, a joint initiative between the University of Aveiro and the Academic Association of the University of Aveiro, which took place at the University Campus on November 19-21.

This initiative aims to promote the connection between students and the business community. Hundreds of students participated in lectures, networking moments, and job interviews carried out by dozens of participating companies.


Scientific literacy: building paper-based sensors with high school students

?? On November 7, the students from Escola Básica e Secundária?do Monte da Caparica (Agrupamento de Escolas da Caparica) joined AlmaScience’s researchers for a science demo at CENIMAT | i3N facilities. Eager to know more about sustainability and the responsible use of our planet’s resources, together we discussed the potentialities of cellulose and how it could be used.

After this conversation, the students gave life to their ideas, crafting their own paper-based sensors.
